I haven't entered the Nonteam Treasury Challenge lately but this week I had some time and the inspiration item really grabbed me... a black and white photo of a woman gazing out a window longingly. I decided to make a story of a dancer's escape... is she defecting? Running away? It's up to the viewer to decide.
The challenge in making this was that you can't use two items by the same artist, so I had to find 15 different ballerinas that were by different artists but all matched...and pick the right postures and poses that would cohesively blend from one image to the next. I think I looked at every ballerina photo and painting on Etsy (at least the black and whites- hundreds of them!) but I finally got it just the way I wanted... full of movement and emotion and I hope poignant as well. I love the end, it's like magic- voila, she is free! A fellow artist on Etsy commented this is like a flip book- YES! Totally.
Each tile links to the shop it came from so if an artist interests you, by all means click and find their Etsy shop! Lots more good stuff where these came from. :)
